My Grandmother, Edna Marilyn Cochran and my younger uncle, Mickey H. Cochran, (some of you may remember him,) wrote this poem together many years ago. It was published in the poem section of the Springfield News Sun at the time. I thought I'd share it with my classmates.
"School Days"
I love to go to school each day.
I love to read and write and play.
I love the teachers everyone.
Going to school is so much fun.
I love to watch the snow come down,
and pile real deep upon the ground.
It's then my playmates gay and bright,
all gather in for a snowball fight.
Our toes get cold our noses red
as snowballs fly from head to head.
Then all at once someone will cry,
"I'm telling the teacher, you hit my eye."
To our classrooms we all go.
Here comes the principle as you might know.
I looked at him and made a face,
then down the hall we had a race.
He caught me quickly and let me know,
that to his office, we would go.
But don't you know to my surprise,
he was very nice and awfully wise.
He gave to us a brand new rule,
no more snowball fighting while in school.
I still agree that I love school,
the principle with his brand new rule.
I love the teachers everyone.
Going to school is so much fun!
